He told this to the reporters after the commission meeting at the Nirbachan Bhaban in Agargaon on Thursday. EC Secretary Akhter Ahmed and NID DG SM Humayun Kabir were present at the time.
Abul Fazal Md. Sanaullah said, “The Election Commission has approved the draft of the Code of Conduct for Political Parties and Candidates for 2025. However, it will be subject to amendment of the Representation of the People Order-RPO. However, there will be no posters in the campaign for the parliamentary elections. Candidates will be able to campaign on billboards, banners, handbills and online. Campaigning on social media with foreign funding will not be allowed.”
He said, “The rules will cover the members of the advisory council of very important people. In addition, if the person is president or member of the management committee of an educational institution, then he becomes a candidate, he will have to resign. The returning officers will make a common platform, where the candidates of that seat will present their manifestos to the people. In addition, the rules for disqualification of candidates have been included in the RPO 91/e code of conduct.”
