A court has ordered the seizure of two apartments owned by Nasrin Islam, wife of Nassa Group Chairman Nazrul Islam Mazumder and a director of the group. Additionally, the court has ordered the freezing of a substantial number of shares across 55 companies.
The two seized apartments, located in Mohakhali DOHS, have been valued at approximately Tk 4 crore.
Following a petition by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Zakir Hossain Galib issued the order today (June 18).
ACC Assistant Director (Public Relations) Tanzir Ahmed confirmed the information.
On the same day, ACC Assistant Director Muhammad Shihab Salam filed the petition seeking the seizure and freezing of the asset.
The petition stated that Nasrin has been charged with unlawfully acquiring and possessing assets worth Tk 20 crore 26 lakh 59 thousand 850—an amount deemed inconsistent with her known sources of income—through abuse of power, bribery, and corruption. During the investigation, various sources indicated that the accused was attempting to sell or transfer both movable and immovable properties registered in her name. If the assets are sold, it could result in significant financial loss to the state. Therefore, immediate seizure and freezing of these assets were deemed necessary.
