The government on Tuesday approved separate proposals for procuring one cargo of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) and 30,000 metric tons (MTs) of fertilizer to meet the country's growing demand.
The approvals were granted during the 23rd meeting of the Advisers Council Committee on Government Purchase (ACCGP) held today at the Bangladesh Secretariat, chaired by Finance Adviser Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed.
Based on a proposal from the Energy and Mineral Resources Division, Petrobangla will procure one LNG cargo from the spot market using the international quotation method from M/S Excelerate Energy LP, USA, at a cost of approximately Tk 612.54 crore.
Following a proposal from the Ministry of Industries, the Bangladesh Chemical Industries Corporation (BCIC) will purchase 30,000 metric tons of bagged granular urea fertilizer from KAFCO, Bangladesh, as part of the 17th lot for the current fiscal year. The total cost is approximately Taka 140.27 crore, with each ton priced at $383.25.
The day's purchase committee meeting also approved separate proposals from the Road Transport and Highways Division and Security Service Division.
