A total of 158 Bangladeshi nationals who were stranded in Libya have returned home. Their repatriation was facilitated by the Embassy of Bangladesh in Libya, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the International Organization for Migration (IOM).
They arrived at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 5:20 AM on Tuesday.
Earlier, they departed from Mitiga International Airport in Tripoli at 2:10 PM local time on Monday aboard a special Burak Air flight (Flight No: UZ222) bound for Dhaka.
According to the Bangladeshi Embassy in Libya, the returnees were held at the Tajoura Detention Centre in Tripoli. Their repatriation was made possible through the support of the embassy and IOM.
The embassy further stated that the tireless efforts of the Bangladeshi mission in Libya enabled the return of these detained citizens.
