The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) has granted a one-month extension to complete the investigation into the killing of Begum Rokeya University student Abu Sayed during last year's anti-discrimination student movement in Rangpur.
It has ordered that the investigation report of the case be submitted by July 14.
The tribunal, headed by its Chairman, Justice Md Golam Mortuza Majumder, passed the order on Sunday in response to a prosecution petition seeking an extension of time.
Prosecutor SM Moinul Karim presented arguments on behalf of the prosecution in court.
He said that the investigation into the Abu Sayeed murder case is nearing completion, and they hope to conclude the investigation within two weeks.
Earlier in the morning, the four accused in the case were produced before the ICT. On April 9, the tribunal had ordered their appearance and set a deadline of June 15 for submitting the investigation report.
