One person died and 169 new dengue cases were reported across the country in the 24 hours till Saturday morning, taking the total number of deaths from the mosquito-borne disease this year to 29 and confirmed cases to 5,739.
According to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), the latest death was reported from outside the city corporation area in Chattogram Division.
Among the new cases, Barishal Division reported the highest with 101, followed by 28 in areas under Chattogram Division outside city corporations. Five new cases were reported from Dhaka Division (outside city corporations), 19 from Dhaka South City Corporation, and 16 from Dhaka North City Corporation.
As of now, 633 dengue patients are being treated in hospitals across the country.
Last year, dengue caused 575 deaths in Bangladesh. The DGHS recorded 1,01,214 total dengue cases and 1,00,040 recoveries in 2024.
