A mild heatwave is expected to continue across most parts of the country today, alongside the possibility of sporadic rainfall, according to a bulletin from the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD).
The met office stated that the heatwave affecting much of the country on Friday is likely to persist today in five divisions — Rangpur, Rajshahi, Khulna, Mymensingh, and Sylhet — as well as in the districts of Dhaka, Narayanganj, Madaripur, and Kishoreganj.
Meanwhile, light to moderate rain is likely to occur at a few places over Chattogram, Mymensingh, and Sylhet divisions, and at one or two places over Rangpur, Rajshahi, Dhaka, Khulna, and Barishal divisions, with moderately heavy falls in some areas.
Although temperatures dipped slightly on Friday following some rainfall, people experienced little relief from the oppressive heat, said BMD meteorologist Dr Md Omar Faruq.
He added that the heat-induced discomfort is expected to subside once widespread rain begins, likely from 15–16 June.
