The return of Bangladeshi pilgrims from Saudi Arabia has officially begun, following the completion of all formal Hajj rituals.
Return flights started today (June 10) and are scheduled to continue until July 10, according to the Ministry of Religious Affairs.
This year, 87,157 Bangladeshis performed the holy Hajj. Tragically, 19 Bangladeshi pilgrims have died during the pilgrimage, while 188 others required medical attention. Nineteen of them remain under treatment at various government hospitals in Saudi Arabia.
The core Hajj rituals took place on June 5, with Bangladeshi pilgrims arriving in the Kingdom between April 29 and May 31.
The Saudi Ministry of Interior cracked down on unauthorized pilgrimage activities during this year’s Hajj, shutting down 436 fake Hajj agencies and arresting 462 individuals for violating Hajj regulations.
Authorities in both countries have emphasized the need for compliance with Hajj protocols to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all pilgrims.
