May 14 has been declared as a 'Back Day by Jagannath University (JnU) in the wake of the police attack on teachers and students on that day.
The announcement was made at a press conference on the Jamuna-bound road at 11:30 pm on Thursday by the general secretary of the University Teachers' Association, Professor Dr. Md. Rais Uddin.
He also said that all former and current students of the university will hold a rally at 10 am today. The protesting teachers and students will sit on a mass hunger strike after Friday Jummah prayers.
The general secretary of the Teachers' Association said, "We will instruct the chairman of each department from tomorrow (Friday) to inform the CR group so that students of all semesters of all departments come to the protest. If students come to the protest from tomorrow (Friday), they will get attendance for the semester."
He also said, "We, all former and current students, will gather here at 10 am. We will not go back from here without getting result.”
Professor Dr. Md. Rais Uddin said, "We will all sit down on Friday and decide together what the program for the next day can be."
