River ports across the country have been advised to hoist cautionary signal number one as rain or thundershowers, accompanied by temporary west or north-westerly gusty or squally winds, are likely in several regions.
The warning, issued by the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD), will remain valid until 6pm on Tuesday, reports BSS.
“Rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary west/north-westerly gusty or squally winds with speeds of 45–60 kph (kilometer per hour) are likely to occur over the regions of Rangpur, Dinajpur, Mymensingh, Tangail, Cumilla, Noakhali, Barishal, and Sylhet. River ports in these areas shall hoist cautionary signal number one,” the met office bulletin stated.
