Home Adviser Lt. Gen. (Retd.) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury has announced that the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) will be reconstituted.
He revealed the information following a meeting of the Advisory Council Committee on Law and Order at the Home Ministry on Monday.
The adviser said that a committee has been formed to carry out the reconstitution process of RAB. A decision has also been taken to ensure that the police will not carry any lethal weapons, he added.
Jahangir Alam said that garment workers’ salaries and allowances must be paid before Eid. However, any illegal demands made by the workers will not be tolerated, and strict measures will be taken.
He also said that to stop extortion at cattle markets, 100 Ansar members must be deployed at each market in the capital.
Instructions have been given to ensure that passengers can travel without disruption and that no extortion occurs on the roads, the adviser continued.
