IGP alerts police in borders amid India-Pakistan conflict

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Baharul Alam on Wednesday asked police supers in bordering districts to remain alert so Bangladesh’s security was not hampered in view of India-Pakistan conflict, reports BSS.

"A warning has been given to the police superintendents of the bordering districts so that the security of Bangladesh is not disrupted due to the India-Pakistan conflict,” a police headquarter statement quoted him as saying.

It said the IGP made the warning as he was speaking at an award-distribution ceremony among winners of the police shooting competition at Bangladesh Shooting Sports Federation at Gulshan.

“We will make every effort so that our security is not disrupted in this context," The IGP said.

Thirty Bangladesh districts have borders with India and three districts have borders with Myanmar.

The police statement said Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) and Special Branch (SB) became champion and runner-up respectively in the competition, contested by different police units from May 5-7.

The Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) Additional IGP and President of Bangladesh Police Shooting Club M. Mustafa Kamal presided over the function.

In the competition, Nayek Tanjib Hossain Khandaker attached to SB won first place in .177 Air Rifle Open Sight 10 Meter (men) event, SB ASI (unarmed) M. Monirul Islam won second place and Feni district ASI (unarmed) ABSM Hasan secured the third place.

In the same event, SB female constable Tania Akhter won first place among women, SB female constable Nila Khatun won second place and SB female constable Nila Akhter won third place.

In the .22 Bore Rifle Open Sight 50 Meter (men) event, Rajshahi metropolitan (RMP) Additional Police Superintendent Nasheed Farhad won first place, SB constable Shakil Ahmed won second place and Nayek Tanjib Hossain Khandaker attached to SB bagged the third place.

In the same event for women, SB ASI (unarmed) Ismat Ara won the first place, SB female constable Amena Akhter won the second place and SB ASI (Unarmed) Neelima Akhter won the third place.

In the .22 Bore Pistol/Revolver 25 Meter (men) event, Bangladesh Police Academy Police Superintendent Sheikh Md Abdullah Bin Kalam won the first place, RAB Sergeant Zubair won the second place and DMP Additional Deputy Police Commissioner Shahed Ahmed won the third place.
