Bangladesh has reacted to the exchange of fire between India and Pakistan.
In a statement on Wednesday afternoon, the Foreign Ministry called on both sides to restraint. Bangladesh is hopeful that diplomatic efforts will reduce the ongoing tension and peace will prevail, it said.
The Foreign Ministry said that the Bangladesh government is closely monitoring the escalating situation between India and Pakistan.
Expressing deep concern over the ongoing situation, Bangladesh calls on both countries to remain calm, exercise restraint and refrain from taking any steps that may worsen the situation, the statement said.
It also said that Bangladesh is hopeful that diplomatic efforts aimed at regional peace and stability will defuse tensions and ultimately peace will prevail for the benefit of the people of the region.
