Aviation and Aerospace University, Bangladesh (AAUB) has secured the 18th place in the Design Report and overall 36th place in the Design-Build-Fly (DBF) Competition-2025, organized by the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) held from April 10 to 13, in Arizona, USA.
The AAUB, country's only specialized public university in aviation and aerospace, participated in the competition for the first time, with the inspiration and guidance of Chief of Air Staff of Bangladesh Air Force Air Chief Marshal Hasan Mahmood Khan and overall supervision of Vice Chancellor of the university Air Vice Marshal A K M Manirul Bahar, said an ISPR release.
Following the performance, a grand reception and press briefing were organized at the Dhaka campus of AAUB on Tuesday.
AAUB Vice Chancellor, senior officers of the Bangladesh Air Force, and senior officials of the Education Ministry were present at the reception.
In addition to the success of DBF team, AAUB has other achievements like; the successful launch of Cube Satellite Balloon, 2nd runner-up position in Kibo Robot programming and qualifying for CanSat final round competition.
Moreover, these UAVs have been designed to carry internal and external payloads and launch an engine-less glider from the sky which is capable of landing accurately at defined GPS coordinates, added the release.
Before the final phase, the newly designed UAV completed 21 training missions and the UAV's innovative demonstration flight was conducted on February 25 this year, where the Chief of Air Staff was present as the chief guest.
This drone can be used in automatic surveillance, disaster management, agriculture and other sectors, it said.
