Hasnat Abdullah, Chief Coordinator (South) of the National Citizens' Party (NCP), was attacked on Sunday evening in the Chandana area of Gazipur. NCP leaders, including Abdul Hannan Masud, confirmed the incident via social media, urging nearby supporters to assist, reports UNB.
According to Masud, the attack on Hasnat’s car resulted in shattered windows, and Hasnat’s hand was injured. Sarjis Alam, NCP’s Chief Coordinator (North), stated that 10–12 assailants were involved in the attack.
The attack took place near the Islamic University of Technology (IUT) in the Gacha Police jurisdiction of Gazipur. Shahin Khan, Officer-in-Charge of Bason Police Station, confirmed that details were still being verified, with police investigating the incident.
Deputy Commissioner of Gazipur Metropolitan Police (South), Nasir Uddin, also confirmed that he was heading to the site after receiving reports. The incident has prompted concerns over the safety of political leaders in the region.
