Fisheries and Livestock Advisor Farida Akhter has said that animals will not be imported for this year's Eid-ul-Azha as there is more cattle than the demand in the country.
She said this at a press conference organized on the demand for sacrificial animals and the government's preparations for Eid-ul-Azha at the Secretariat on Sunday.
The advisor has said that a total of 12.447 million cattle have been prepared for sacrifice this year. Even after meeting the demand for sacrifice, there will be more than 2 million 68 thousand cattle in excess this year.
Stating that sacrificial animals will not be imported this year, she also said that cattle will not be allowed to enter illegally. “
From today, illegal entry of cattle will be completely prohibited.”
She said that there are reports of illegal import of animals through Myanmar this year. However, law enforcement agencies will take strict legal action to prevent illegal entry.
Farida Akhter said, “There will be a special train arrangement for the supply of sacrificial animals, and that this year, animals will be supplied from North Bengal to Chittagong via Dhaka by special trains. Twenty veterinary medical teams and two specialist medical teams will be deployed to provide primary treatment at 19 animal markets under the two city corporations of the capital.”
