Rain and thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and temporary gusty winds are expected to affect several parts of the country over the next 24 hours, according to the latest weather bulletin issued this morning by the Meteorological Department.
The synoptic report indicates that a trough of low pressure currently extends from West Bengal to the North Bay, crossing the southwestern region of Bangladesh. This atmospheric condition is likely to bring scattered showers to parts of the country.
Rangpur, Rajshahi, and Sylhet divisions may experience rain or thundershowers at a few places. Meanwhile, isolated showers could occur in Dhaka, Mymensingh, Khulna, Barishal, and Chattogram divisions, the forecast added.
Country's maximum rainfall recorded yesterday (May 3) was 35 mm in Sandwip, Chattogram.
Despite the expected rainfall, both day and night temperatures are likely to remain nearly unchanged across the country.
On Saturday, the highest temperature in the country was recorded at 36.6°C in Baghabari, Rajshahi.
The sun will set today at 6:29 pm and rise tomorrow at 5:22 am in the capital.
