A Rajbari court on Monday placed former State Minister for Education Kazi Keramat Ali on a two-day remand in a case related to attacks, shooting and explosion during the anti-discrimination student movement in August.
Following the hearing of the case, Judicial Magistrate Tamjid Ahmed granted the remand after the investigation officer sought a seven-day remand prayer.
Sub-Inspector (SI) Enayet Shikder of Sadar Police Station, also an investigation officer, applied to show Keramat Ali arrested in a case filed by Chhatra Dal activist Jisan Khan in connection with another incident that took place on 5 August.
After the hearing, the court also granted the plea.
Keramat Ali was arrested by the Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police on 6 April and brought to Rajbari the following day.
He was arrested in a case filed by student Rajib Molla related to the August 5 incident and produced before the court. In that case, Kazi Keramat Ali is the second-named accused in the charge sheet.
