Former Law Minister Anisul Huq was reportedly punched indiscriminately on the court premises in Narayanganj on Monday.
The incident took place when he was coming out of the Senior Judicial Magistrate Court in Narayanganj after appearing before it in connection with a murder case in the afternoon.
The police officers deployed to ensure his security were forced to urgently escort Anisul into the prison van as people present on the court premises began punching him indiscriminately.
Earlier in the day, police produced Anisul before the court in connection with Sulaiman murder case with a seven day remand player while Senior Judicial Magistrate Moinuddin Kadir granted four days remand.
The case was filed with Siddhirganj Police Station, involving the killing of Hafiz Md Sulaiman on August 5, with Anisul named as the third accused.
