BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman stands by the grieving bereaved family of Lamia Akter, daughter of Shaheed Jasim Uddin, who was shot by police during the mass uprising of the students’ movement in 2024.
The delegation led by BNP senior joint secretary general and Chief Advisor of 'Amra BNP Paribas' Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi went to Naldoani village of Dakshin Pangasia Union in Dumki Upazila of Patuakhali on Sunday afternoon. Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi conveyed the party's Acting chairman Tarique Rahman's message of sympathy to Lamia Akter's family.
He also handed over financial assistance to Martyred Jasim Uddin's father Sobhan Hawlader (Lamia Akter's grandfather).
On behalf of Tarique Rahman, the delegation also included Atiqur Rahman Rumon, convener of 'Amra BNP Paribas' and member of BNP Media Cell, Engineer Mostafa-e Zaman Selim, advisor of 'Amra BNP Paribas', member secretary Krishibid Mokchedul Momin Mithun, permanent member of the National Press Club Zahidul Islam Roni, and central organizing secretary of Jatiyatabadi Chatradal Md. Amanullah Aman.
Meanwhile, the delegation led by Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi participated in the funeral of Lamia Akter at the local school ground at 8:45 pm on Sunday. At this time, leaders and activists of Patuakhali district, Dumki upazila BNP and its associate organizations and officials of Patuakhali district administration participated in the funeral.
After the funeral of Lamia Akter, the delegation visited the grave of her father Jasim Uddin, who was martyred in police firing during the mass uprising of the students and the public in 2024.
