A mild heatwave is sweeping over the districts of Faridpur, Madaripur, Jashore, Noakhali, Feni, Chattogram, Bandarban, and Rangamati, with the possibility of it subsiding in some areas, according to the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) report released on Tuesday afternoon.
The BMD also stated that rain or thunder showers with lightning flashes and temporary gusty winds are likely to occur at isolated locations across Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram, and Sylhet divisions.
The department further reported that a low-pressure area over the central part of the South Bay has shifted slightly northwestwards and now lies over the Southwest Bay and adjoining Southeast Bay as of 6 am on Tuesday.
This system is expected to move northwestwards in the next 12 hours and then move northwards. A trough of low pressure is also extending over West Bengal and the surrounding region.
The highest temperature recorded in the country was 37.6 degrees Celsius in Feni, Chattogram Division, on Monday, while Tuesday’s minimum temperature was 19.5 degrees Celsius in Rajarhat, Rangpur Division.
The sun will set at 6:17 pm on Tuesday, and will rise at 5:44 am on Wednesday in Dhaka.
