Director General (DG) of the National Consumer Rights Protection Department (Vocta) Mohammad Alim Akhter said apart from edible oil, there is adequate supply of other products such as dates, spices, chickpeas and fruits.
He said this at a press conference held on Thursday on the market control plan for daily necessities during the holy Ramadan.
The DG Consumer said, “There is adequate import and supply in the market. But there is some discomfort with edible oil so far. However, retailers are taking advantage of whatever is available. The government has already launched a truck sale program through TCB.”
“Apart from this, some companies and institutions are written to me saying that they want to provide products at low prices in different places during Ramadan. Letters have been sent to the two city corporations and the DMP to provide them with adequate cooperation,” he said.
