Gazipur Metropolitan Police (GMP) Commissioner Nazmul Karim Khan has announced that the Ijtema ground will be under special surveillance to ensure security during the Akheri Munajat (final prayer) of the first phase of Biswa Ijtema, which will take place between 9:00 am and 9:30 am on Sunday.
Authorities have taken steps to prevent any untoward incidents in and around the ground. Special attention will be given to hawkers, as officials will monitor what they carry in bags or baskets. Security checkpoints will conduct thorough inspections to restrict their entry.
The GMP commissioner made these remarks during a press briefing at the police control room near the Ijtema ground at 10:00 am on Saturday.
He further stated that special security measures have been arranged for foreign devotees. Additionally, to facilitate smooth movement for worshippers, several roads and highways will remain closed from midnight. These include areas like Bhogra Bypass, Dhour, and 300 Feet Road, where vehicle will be diverted from 6:00 am to keep the roads clear, allowing devotees to walk to the prayer ground.
Addressing journalists, he urged media professionals to report accurately to prevent misinformation and rumours. He emphasised that misleading reports could create confusion among general people.
The briefing was also attended by other senior police officials.
