BNP's joint international affairs secretary barrister Rumeen Farhana has said that there should be a Minority Commission and a separate seat in Parliament to solve the problems of minorities.
She said, "In the history of the country, whenever the Awami League was in power, it committed the most atrocities on minorities. No one was safe in the country for the last 15 years. Minorities have silently endured this atrocity. We will not accept atrocities on minorities on this land."
She said this at a round table meeting titled "What to do to protect communal harmony in Bangladesh" organized by the Bangladesh National Hindu Mahajot at the National Press Club on Saturday.
Rumeen Farhana said, "Sheikh Hasina is trying to destabilize the country in collaboration with India. Some countries think that they are the protectors of Hindus all over the world. You should not let them play this ‘game of protector.’ The constitution give everyone equal rights.”
At that time, Jamaat-e-Islami assistant secretary advocate Ehsanul Mahbub Zubair said, “The youth have shown how to play a responsible role during a crisis. Nothing can be changed in four-six months. If there is an election without reforms, the old Bangladesh will return.’
He said, “Unwanted incidents have happened to many people not because of religion but because of political reasons. The Indian government has gone to extremes. Religious people are never extremists. We want to forget this comparison between majority and minority.”
