BNP Standing Committee Member Nazrul Islam Khan expressed optimism on Thursday that the interim government would accelerate preparations for a free and fair election and swiftly restore power to the people.
"We have brought down fascism, but democracy is yet to be fully restored. This restoration will come through a free, fair, and neutral election. Preparations for that are ongoing," he said while attending a winter clothing distribution event marking the 44th anniversary of Krishak Dal at the party's Naya Paltan headquarters.
Nazrul emphasised the need for credible elections.
"We hope these preparations are completed swiftly so power can return to the people without delay," he said.
Highlighting past controversies over electoral integrity, Nazrul stressed the importance of a transparent process.
