BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir feels that restoring a democratic environment in the country should be prioritized. He remarked that various conspiracies are ongoing, involving minorities and the garment industry, which would not be possible under an elected government.
BNP’s veteran politician affirmed his party’s position regarding the ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina.
"BNP does not want Sheikh Hasina to return to power. She became a fascist by exploiting the weaknesses of political parties," said Mirza Fakhrul
He made these remarks on Tuesday at a discussion that was held at the National Press Club.
On the topic of elections, the BNP Secretary General mentioned that his party is not seeking power. However, delaying elections will only exacerbate problems. Mirza Fakhrul also called on the interim government to announce a specific roadmap for the next course of action.
Recently, people from various professions have been raising different demands and engaging in protests. Commenting on such movements, Mirza Fakhrul has said that in the name of protest, public suffering is being caused.
"Now, everyone is making demands, but in the past, no one voiced such demands against the dictator. This crisis has arisen due to the absence of a political government," he stated.
Regarding the interim government, Fakhrul criticized the ruling authorities for their inconsistency, stating that instead of making contradictory statements, they should focus on necessary reforms and expedite preparations for elections.
