Workers from five factories under TNZ Group who blocked the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway since Saturday demanding overdue salaries and resumption of factory operations have withdrawn their programme and left the highway around 2:00 pm on Monday paving the way for vehicular movement.
Earlier on Saturday, workers of TNZ Group blocked the Gazipur highway, demanding three months' overdue salaries and the resumption of factory operations.
Agitated workers blocked the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway on Monday at Maleker Bari Colombia Garment’s intersection under Gazipur City Corporation. For the past three days, hundreds of passengers have been stuck on the highway due to the blockade.
All RMG workers except TNZ Group in Gazipur joined at their respective workplaces on Monday morning.
Gazipur Metropolitan Police Deputy Commissioner (Traffic) Ibrahim Khan said vehicular movement on the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway resumed around 2:00 pm after the RMG workers lifted their blockade programme.
