150 Bangladeshi national returned from Libya with the cooperation from Bangladesh’s foreign ministry, Bangladesh embassy in Libya and International Organization for Migration (IOM)
They arrived in Bangladesh on a chartered Burak Air flight on Thursday (October 10).
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs conveyed this information in a notification.
According to the notification, these Bangladeshis were brought back from Libya's Tripoli and its neighboring areas with the cooperation from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Bangladesh Embassy in Tripoli, and the International Organization for Migration (IOM). After landing at the airport, these Bangladeshi citizens were welcomed by the officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the International Migration Organization (IOM) at the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.
Most of the repatriated Bangladeshis entered Libya at the instigation and cooperation of human traffickers to reach Europe illegally by sea. Most of them were abducted and tortured at various times in Libya. The official of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs urged everyone to be aware of this so that no one goes to Libya after returning to the country.
On behalf of IOM, each repatriate from Libya is provided with Tk 6,000, some food items, medical treatment and temporary accommodation.
