A total of 179 members of the Myanmar Border Guard Police (BGP) fled to Bangladesh and took shelter again on Monday amid the ongoing conflict between the ruling junta and the armed rebel group along the border.
BGP personnel entered the Bangladesh territory through the border area in Naikhongchhari under BGB Battalion-11, said Shariful Islam, public relations officer (PRO) of the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB).
In February, 330 Myanmar nationals, including BGP members, army personnel, and immigration officials, crossed the border and took shelter in Bangladesh.
On 15 February, they were handed over to the BGP amid tight security.
