Bashundhara Eye Hospital and Research Institute (BEHRI) provided free treatments for 1,800 people in Barura upazila of Cumilla on Friday, reports Daily Sun.
BEHRI, an ophthalmic venture of the Bashundhara Group, in collaboration Vision Care Foundation and AKM Abu Taher Foundation and Vision Care Foundation supported the daylong camp at Amratali Cherag Ali High School in the upazila.
Hailing from Uttar Shilmuri, Dakshin Shilmuri and Bhabanipur unions, patients flocked the eye camp which consisted of 13 booths.
Moazzem Hossain Kallol, coordinator of the camp, said earlier three eye camps were held in Barura treating around 6,000 patients and operating 1,100 others.
Zakaria Taher Sumon, chief sponsor of Abu Taher Foundation, said, “Two other eye camps will be held in Barura for treating patients of three unions and one municipality.”
He thanked Bashundhara Group for extending medical support for conducting eye camp and operating critical patients for free.
BEHRI founding director Prof Dr Md Saleh Ahmed said, “We have organised eye camps in various parts of the country.”
