Azad Talukder, Editor of Ekushey Patrika, a popular online Bangla news portal based in Chattogram, passed away at a city hospital on Wednesday.
He was 48.
Family sources said Azad had been suffering from various diseases including liver cancer, reports Daily Sun.
His first Namaz-e-Janaza was held at Jamiatul Falah National Mosque in Chattogram’s WASA intersection after Juhr prayer while the second one in front of Chattogram Press Club at 2:30 pm.
He was later laid to eternal rest at family graveyard after third Namaz-e-Janaza at Padua Madinatul Ulum Dakhil Madrasha premises under Rangunia upazila after Asr prayer.
Information and Broadcasting Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud expressed profound shock at the sad demise of Azad.
Chattogram Union of Journalists (CUJ) President Tapan Chakraborty, General Secretary M Shamsul Islam and different other organisations and individuals also expressed condolence at his death.
Mentionable, Azad had been fighting with cancer for more than two years.
He underwent treatment at various hospitals in the country and abroad.
Azad worked for different national and international media outlets for the last three decades before joining as Editor at Ekushey Patrika.
