BNP will hold a rally in the capital on Friday to protest against a lower court verdict against party acting chairman Tarique Rahman and his wife Zubaida Rahman in a graft case, reports UNB.
Party’s Dhaka south city unit convener Abdus Salam announced the programme on Wednesday after a demonstration in front of the party’s Nayapaltan central office.
He said the rally will start at 2 pm at BNP’s Nayapaltan central office.
Hundreds of BNP leaders and activists staged a demonstration in the Nayapaltan area protesting the court verdict against Tarique and Zubaida.
Earlier in the day, BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman was sentenced to nine years' imprisonment and his wife Zubaida Rahman was handed a three-year jail term in a corruption case filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
