A 13-year-old madrasa girl was gang-raped allegedly by the supervisor and the helper of a bus in Bhanga of Faridpur district on Sunday, reports UNB.
Jewel, sub-inspector (SI) of Bhanga police station, said they have arrested three people in connection with the crime.
The arrestees: supervisor Asif Sardar 22, helper Rakib Matobbar, 24 and his mother Lily Begum, 50.
Sumon Ahmed, the brother-in-law of the victim, said his sister-in-law used to live with them in Dhaka’s Hazaribagh area and study in Khadijatul Kubra madrasa.
"On Sunday afternoon (July 30), I saw her off at Babubazar as she was going to her village in Faridpur's Nagarkanda upazila by the bus of Prochesta Paribahan. My father-in-law was waiting for her in Bhanga to receive her,” Sumon added.
Finding her mobile phone switched off, the victim's father lodged a complaint at Bhanga police station on Sunday night.
Following the complaint, police conducted a drive and detained bus supervisor Asif on Monday morning.
Based on the information given by Asif, police rescued the girl from the house of bus helper Rakib and detained him along with his mother.
According to the case statement, the accused bus supervisor and helper took the girl to Rakib’s home and violated her in turns.
A case was filed at Bhanga police station in this incident, said SI Monir, investigating officer of the case.
Besides, the rape survivor was sent to the hospital for medical tests.
Jiarul Islam, OC of Bhanga police station, said they are investigating the incident. If there are others involved in the incident action will also be taken against them.
