Awami League (AL) and its associate and front organizations on Sunday staged demonstrations and brought out processions at every thana in the capital aiming at protesting BNP-Jamaat's anti-state conspiracy and anarchy, reports BSS.
AL leaders in the protest rallies said BNP-Jamaat clique is making anarchic activities in the capital in the name of rally to halt the development works of the incumbent government.
Jatrabari Thana unit of AL staged demonstration at Shaheed Sheikh Russel Park adjacent to Jatrabari intersection in the afternoon.
AL Presidium Member Mofazzal Hossain Chowdhury, Bir Bikram, joined the programme as the chief guest.
He said whenever AL stays in power, the country witnesses development and progress and its people stay well.
BNP-Jamaat clique doesn't believe in the country's development as they can carry out arson terrorism and sabotage.
When BNP-Jamaat was in power, massive corruption took place in the country and it became champions in corruption for five times, he mentioned.
Maya said BNP-Jamaat laundered thousands of crore of money. They know the people won't cast their vote in their favor and that is why they again resorted to sabotage and arson terrorism with a view to thwarting the polls, he added.
Dhaka City South AL President Abu Ahmed Mannafi, General Secretary Humayun Kabir and Jatrabari Thana AL former general secretary Harun-or-Rashid, among others, spoke on the occasion with Jatrabari Thana AL former President Kazi Manirul Islam Manu in the chair.
A protest procession was also brought on the occasion.
Dhaka City North unit of Awami Jubo League staged a peace rally on the premises of Mahakhali kitchen market.
Awami Jubo League Chairman Sheikh Fazle Shams Parash and General Secretary Mainul Hossain Khan Nikhil spoke on the occasion, among others.
City North Jubo League acting President Zakir Hossain Babul chaired the rally which was moderated by its General Secretary Md Ismail Hossain.
Bangladesh Krishak League's Dhaka City South unit also brought out protest procession and held a rally in front of AL's Bangabandhu Avenue central office in the morning.
AL Agriculture and Cooperatives Affairs Secretary Faridunnahar Laily, Education and Manpower Affairs Secretary Shamsunnahar Chapa, Krishak League President Samir Chanda and Joint General Secretary Biswanath Sarkar Bitu addressed the rally, among others, with Krishak League's Dhaka City South unit Convener Abdus Salam Babu in the chair.
Awami Jubo League's Dhaka City South unit brought out protest procession from Jatrabari intersection which paraded different city streets and ended at Jatrabari Park.
A peace rally was held there.
Awami Jubo League's Dhaka City South unit organizing secretary Gazi Sarwar Hossain Babu and Office Secretary Emdadul Haque Emdad also spoke on the occasion.
Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) staged demonstration at TSC on the Dhaka University campus.
BCL President Saddam Hussein, Dhaka University unit President Mazharul Kabir Shayan, Dhaka City South unit of BCL Rajibul Islam Bappy and its General Secretary Sajal Kundu addressed it, among others.
Demra Thana AL staged a protest rally and brought out a procession in the Demra area.
Different units of AL and its front organizations also staged identical rally and brought out procession in each thana and ward in the capital.
