In the light of the Cabinet Division's national programmes, the government has chalked out elaborate programmes to observe the 48th martyrdom anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the National Mourning Day at national level on August 15, reports BSS.
As part of the programmes, the national flag will be hoisted half-mast in all government, semi-government, autonomous institutions, educational institutions and private buildings, said an official release today.
All employees of the ministries/departments/agencies will wear black badges to observe the National Mourning Day with due dignity from the first day of August.
Bangladesh Television (BTV) and Bangladesh Betar will massively promote the information on the issues regarding hoisting the national flag at half-mast and the proper use of the national flag.
Glowing tributes will be paid to the architect of the independence by placing wreaths at the portrait of Bangabandhu at 6:30 am in front of Bangabandhu Memorial Museum at Dhanmondi Road No 32 in the capital.
A guard of honor will be presented by the armed forces and prayers will be offered there.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will place wreaths and shower flower petals in the Banani Graveyard around 7:30 am on the graves of the family members of the Father of the Nation and other martyrs who were brutally killed on the brutal night on August 15, 1975.
She will also offer Fateha and munajat, seeking eternal peace of the departed souls of the martyrs.
Different organizations/institutions and other social organizations will pay homage to the Father of the Nation by placing wreath at the mazar of Bangabandhu at Tungipara in Gopalganj and Bangabandhu Memorial Museum at Dhanmondi Road No 32 in the capital.
Fateha and munajat will be offered and discussions will be held there.
Documentary films on father of the nation will be displayed at all upazilas and districts.
English subtitle must be added in all videos prepared for the national mourning day.
Bangladesh Betar and Bangladesh Television will organize special programmes marking the National Mourning Day.
Special supplements will be published in national dailies and magazines while posters will be pasted and distributed in this regard.
All ministries and divisions will make and implement their respective programmes marking the national mourning day and their subordinate bodies will ensure these programmes.
Discussion and doa-mahfils will be organized in due manner at upazila and district levels. District and upazila administrations will arrange these programmes. The government officials will actively participate in the events.
The programmes of Dhanmondi and Tungipara will be broadcast live on Bangladesh Betar and Bangladesh Television. Other private television channels, FM radio and community radio will also broadcast the programmes live with the help of Bangladesh Betar and Bangladesh Television.
The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting through its subordinate organizations and departments/agencies will arrange photo exhibitions, publication of special supplements with pictures, publication of memorabilia and special articles, discussion and other activities in accordance with the national programmes.
Bangladesh Television and Bangladesh Betar will arrange the reading or recitation of the two books-Bangabandhu's the Unfinished Memoirs (Oshomapto Attojiboni) and the Prison Diaries (Karagarer Rojnamcha) -- during the whole month of August and the curator of Bangabandhu Memorial Museum will provide necessary support to this end.
Bangladesh Television and Bangladesh Betar will start mourning day programmes by organizing a discussion based on Bangabandhu's biography in the beginning of the month of August, the release said.
