Inspector General of Police (IGP) Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun on Monday said Open House Day discussion helps police to become more people-friendly as it’s conducted to ensure hassle-free services to countrymen in friendly atmosphere, reports BSS.
"We are monitoring all the activities of police stations and policing to make police more people-friendly so that common people can receive hassle-free services," he said.
"The main moto of the discussion is to resolve complexity between service seekers and service providers," he told BSS while talking about the 'Open House Day' discussion held at Kotwali police station recently.
Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Khandkar Golam Faruq said, "We are determined to make police service more people-friendly and public-oriented."
He said the DMP has been striving to deliver a professional and responsive policing service to the citizens, adding, "A core function of our activities is to take all possible steps to prevent crimes, to identify criminals responsible for crimes and to bring them under the law."
The Open House Day discussion was held on Saturday morning with Lalbagh Division Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Md Zafar Hossain in the chair.
Md Zafar Hossain, in the meeting, sought cooperation from all and urged everyone to inform police about any criminal activities in order to control crimes.
Drugs, gambling, eve-teasing, militancy, measures to prevent violence against women, responsibilities of society to prevent social degradation and misuse of social media were discussed at the event.
Kotwali Zone Assistant Police Commissioner Md Shahinur Islam, Kotwali Thana Awami League General Secretary Babla, Councilor of Ward No. 32 Md Abdul Mannan, Councilor of Ward No. 36 Ranjan Biswas, Islampur Clothe Traders Association President Sajal Hossain, Sadarghat Clothe Traders Association President Bellal Hossain, representatives of civil society, representatives of educational institutions and representatives of various political parties joined the discussion.
