Nat’l Public Service Day tomorrow: President, PM issue messages

The 'National Public Service Day-2023' will be observed tomorrow (Sunday) to encourage and motivate the public service officials to extend their service for people's welfare.

In separate messages on the eve of the day, President Mohammed Shahabuddin and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Saturday greeted all employees of the Republic, reports BSS.

In his message, President Mohammed Shahabuddin said the role of efficient, dynamic and accountable public administration is very important for formulating the policies and strategies of the government and implementing those for the proper execution of the overall functions of the state.

The head of the state said that it is the constitutional responsibility of government employees to act as public servants.

In view of this, to make the civil service easy, accessible, transparent and accountable, the employees of the republic should be more people-friendly and sincere, he added.

Shahabuddin believed that it is a commendable initiative to award the 'Bangabandhu Public Administration Padak-2023' to encourage the creativity, innovative efforts, service facilitation and constructive activities of the employees engaged in all departments of public administration and to accelerate the development-progress of the government.

He extended his heartiest wishes and congratulations to all those who have received public administration padak in recognition of their innovative works this year.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, in her message, said, "I am happy to know that 'National Public Service Day-2023' is being celebrated and 'Bangabandhu Public Administration Padak-2023' is being awarded like every year for creative and commendable work done by government employees."

"On the occasion of this day, I extend my sincere greetings to all the government officials and employees. I also congratulate all the government employees who have received Padak," she added.

Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was always sympathetic towards government employees, the premier said, adding that Bangabandhu regularly kept in touch with the government servants and was earnest in ensuring their personal and family welfare.

He wanted every government servant to be efficient and honest and guided in the right direction in discharging duties, she mentioned.

The premier thanked the Ministry of Public Administration for associating the name of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib with the Public Administration Padak.

She hoped that through this, the ideals of the father of the nation, patriotism, humanity and responsibility will be transmitted among the government employees.

Noting that the Awami League (AL)-led government has been working sincerely for the welfare of government employees along with other communities, she said training facilities for government employees have been increased at home and abroad.

Higher education opportunities have been expanded for them, she said, adding that several projects are underway for skill development of public servants.

Sheikh Hasina added that a significant number of officers working in the field level are now getting foreign training and higher education opportunities.
