The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) has sentenced four war criminals to death for crimes against humanity during the Liberation War in 1971 in Bhandaria upazila in Pirojpur.
The three-member ICT-1 panel headed by Justice Md Shahinur Islam announced the verdict on Thursday morning.
The condemn convicts are Abdul Mannan Howlader, Ashraf Ali alias Asrab Ali Howlader, Md Moharaj Howlader alias Hatkata Moharaj and Md Nurul Amin Howlader. Among them, Md Nurul Amin Howlader is on the run.
All the four were activists of Jamaat-e-Islami and joined local Razakar Bahini as the war began in 1971. They actively participated and committed heinous crimes including crimes against humanity.
