The number of dengue patients in the hospitals of the country is getting increasing every day. In last 24 hours till Thursday morning, a new 1,239 dengue patients have been admitted into different hospitals and five of them died. In total, in current year, 93 people had died due to this mosquito menace. In just July, the number of death is 43 in just 12 days.
Meanwhile, till Wednesday, the total number of dengue patients in the hospitals of the country was 3,791, which was increased to 4069 on Thursday. The increase in number was 278 in just one day. The maximum number of patients admitted into Mugda Medical College Hospitals was on Thursday, which was 481. The hospitals were struggling to accommodate the crowd of dengue patients, which in turn, has been creating obstacles in the treatment of other patients.
According to the Entomologists, Hotspots of dengue spreading mosquitoes can be identified only by calculating the areas from which most dengue patients are coming to the hospital. To reduce the spread of dengue, a crash program should be carried out to kill mosquitoes in hotspots. In the last 24 hours, 756 dengue patients were admitted to different hospitals in Dhaka. 483 people were admitted outside Dhaka. On Thursday, 2, 708 dengue patients were under treatment in 53 government and private hospitals of Dhaka. 1, 361 people were admitted in other divisions.
This year, a total of 17 thousand 382 people have been admitted to hospital due to dengue. Among them, 11, 757 people were admitted in Dhaka. 5 thousand 625 people were admitted to hospitals outside Dhaka. Among the total admitted patients, 13, 220 people have been recovered and left the hospital. 8, 975 people have recovered in Dhaka, while outside Dhaka its 4, 245. A maximum of 3,365 dengue patients have been admitted to Mugda Medical College Hospital in the capital till Thursday. In the last 24 hours, 150 new dengue patients have been admitted to this hospital. The second highest number of patients were admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, which was 1, 259. The third highest number of patients admitted to SSMC and Mitford Hospital which was 1, 134.
On the other hand, two city corporations of Dhaka are flooded with larvae of Aedes mosquito that are carrying dengue germs everywhere even in the presence of the anti-mosquito campaign. North City Corporation filed a case against various building owners and collected a fine of around Tk 6 lakh on Wednesday due to the presence of Aedes larvae in their territories. The South City Corporation on Thursday inspected 299 houses and establishments and fined 23 establishments for finding larvae of Aedes, which was 3,66,000 in Tk.
