A suspected Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army (ARSA) commander was killed during an alleged gunfight between members of the Armed Police Battalion (APBn) and the militant group at a Rohingya camp in Ukhiya, Cox's Bazar, reports UNB.
The deceased was identified as Hussein Majhi, an "ARSA commander," said Syed Harun-ur-Rashid, Additional Deputy Inspector General (ADIG) of APBn-14.
The incident happened at 5 am today at Camp-17 in Ukhiya.
An APBn team surrounded the nearby area of Camp-17 this morning. "At the time, ARSA men opened fire on the APBn team, and the latter fired back," Harun-ur-Rashid said.
After the “gunfight,” Hussein Majhi was found lying on the ground.
The deceased was accused in several murder cases, and police will continue their drive, he added.
