Bangladesh is the wonder in many indexes of socio-economic development. Bashundhara Group, the largest business conglomerate in the country is one of the partners of this progress of the country. Bashundhara Group is always advanced from others in social welfare activities besides business. Bashundhara Sports Complex has already opened to take the country’s sports to a new height. Construction works of several projects of this sports complex are going on with world-standard sports facilities. Now the business conglomerate is entering the education sector. A campus with modern facilities is being constructed at the ‘N Block’ of Bashundhara Residential Area near the Bashundhara Sports Complex. All-out preparation is being taken to establish the proposed ‘Bashundhara Public School and College’ as an ideal educational institute. The inhabitants of Bashundhara Residential Area had a long-standing demand for such an educational institute.

Bashundhara is being praised for years as a modern residential area with all facilities for the city dwellers. The great initiative to establish an educational institute has been taken to continue this fame and meet the ongoing demand. Bashundhara Group Chairman Ahmed Akbar Sobhan is the dreamer of this project. Bashundhara Group is going to launch a new horizon in the education sector through ‘Bashundhara Public School and College’.

Although the plan was a long time ago, construction of the main building started in 2020. The mega plan has been taken to build an attractive campus on 10 bighas of land.  That planning is near implementation.  The construction work of the seven-storied main building of the school is almost completed. It is hoped that construction work of this building will be completed within this year.

Architect Mohammad Foyez Ullah designed the institution. Having a sports ground in the educational institute is a dream in the city.  ‘Bashundhara Public School and College’ will fulfil this dream. A sports field is being prepared on 4 bighas of land for the students. Besides, enough open spaces have been kept inside the academic building. The building will have 65 modern classrooms of around 1,000 square feet. It will also have specialized classrooms and common rooms. A conference room, common room, modern lab, exhibition hall, and cafeteria alongside a big library of 4,000 square feet will give the students all world-standard facilities. The library and lab will be equipped with all sorts of facilities with modern technology for practical learning. It will have a huge cafeteria of 4,500 square feet space and 12 rooms for the teachers. The ground floor, second floor and third floor of the building will have 40,000 square feet of space each and from 4th to 7th floor, it will have 30,000 square feet of space each. The total space of the building is 2 lakh 70 thousand square feet.

More than 5,000 students can study at this school and college. The authority has planned to provide transport facilities to the students. A big parking area has been prepared on the north side of the main building. Rajuk Uttara Model College former Principal Brigadier General Kazi Showkat Alam, ndc, psc (Rtd.) has joined this initiative.

He said, “Bashundhara Group has taken a great initiative to build a world-standard educational institute. It was a long–standing demand of the people of the Bashundhara Residential Area and adjacent areas. It will be an ideal educational institute in Bangla and English versions.”

In the proposed institute, the authority has planned to lunch academic activities from class one to class eight primarily. Activities of classes nine and ten will be introduced in the second phase. Later, academic activities of classes eleven and twelve will be launched.

‘Bashundhara Public School and College’ will have a separate section for female students in co-education. Preparations are underway to start academic activities in the next academic year. Students of the institute will have the chance for co-education activities in the company of renowned sportsmen and a world-standard stadium in the Bashundhara Sports Complex. Students can play all kinds of games including Football, Cricket in Bashundhara Sports Complex‘s field, swimming pool and gymnasium.

In this regard, Kazi Showkat Alam said, “Bashundhara Group Chairman wants students of the ‘Bashundhara Public School and College’ will utilize all kinds of facilities of the Bashundhara Sports Complex.”
