State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid said the electricity situation will be restored within 2-3 hours all over the country.
He said Power Division has already started work to restore the national grid.
Nasrul Hamid hoped that the blackout to end within the evening.
The state minister made the remarks over the phone around 4:45 pm on Tuesday.
Earlier, Power Division Secretary Md Habibur Rahman assured the ongoing blackout across the country will end within Tuesday evening.
He said the electricity situation will become normal within one hour in the capital while it will light the whole country in the evening.
Meanwhile, the Power Grid Company of Bangladesh (PGCB) said the electricity supply will become normal at night.
The national power transmission grid failed at 2:05 pm – causing a blackout across Bangladesh, except in some parts of the north.
According to Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB) and PGCB, the transmission line tripped somewhere in the eastern part of the country.
