US President Donald Trump threatened Iran with yet another attack, contradicting statements he made yesterday (Monday) about "holding off" an allegedly planned offensive at the request of multiple Gulf States.
Speaking to reporters at the White House on Tuesday, Trump claimed he was only an hour away from authorizing an attack on Iran before deciding to delay it. “I was an hour away from making the decision to go today,” he said.
He also claimed that Iran’s leadership was “begging for a deal,” warning that a new US strike could take place within days if no agreement is reached. Iran has repeatedly stated it would not accept a deal that does not ensure its non-negotiable conditions, asserting defensive readiness against any hostile miscalculation.
“I’m saying two or three days, maybe Friday, Saturday, Sunday, something, maybe early next week, a limited period of time, because we can’t let them have a new nuclear weapon,” Trump added.
More often than not, Trump releases statements about Iran and backtracks on his own words shortly after.
Meanwhile, Brigadier General Mohammad Akrami Nia, spokesman for the Iranian Army, said that Iran is unbeatable and unblockable, warning that any new act of aggression would be met with the opening of “new fronts” using fresh tactics and tools.
Akrami Nia said that if the enemy “commits a foolish act and falls again into the trap of the Zionists” by attacking Iran, the country’s armed forces would respond with unprecedented methods.
His comments come amid heightened tensions following statements by Trump, who claimed he had halted a planned military strike on Iran at the request of Qatari, Saudi, and Emirati leaders, while simultaneously warning that a “full-scale attack” could proceed at any moment if no acceptable nuclear deal is reached.
