A total of 12 Muslim countries, including Bangladesh, Pakistan, and Saudi Arabia, have condemned Israel's move to appoint an ambassador to Somaliland, which seeks to secede from Somalia.
The other countries are Egypt, Somalia, Sudan, Libya, Algeria, Palestine, Turkey, Indonesia, and Kuwait.
The condemnation was made in a joint statement by these countries on Saturday.
The countries have described Israel's move as a violation of international law.
According to media reports, the foreign ministers of these 12 countries said in a joint statement that Israel's appointment of an ambassador to Somaliland is a "clear violation of the sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity of Somalia."
They also said that they categorically reject all unilateral actions that undermine the unity of states or interfere with their sovereignty.
The statement said such a move is a "direct violation of international law, the UN Charter and the fundamental principles of the African Union Constitution." It also sets a dangerous precedent that could undermine stability in the Horn of Africa region.
