There is no confirmed information yet on who will lead the delegation to Islamabad. However, regarding the agenda, Iranian officials say the discussions will be based on a previously submitted 10-point proposal presented by Tehran to Washington, reports Al Jazeera.
The negotiations are expected to be difficult, as significant differences remain between the two sides. One of the most contentious issues is likely to be the Strait of Hormuz, given its strategic importance to the global energy market.
Iran, which has seen a decline in parts of its regional influence following recent Israeli attacks on Lebanese territory and other areas, is attempting to use the Strait of Hormuz as leverage.
Iranian officials have also mentioned plans to impose tariffs on oil tankers and other vessels passing through the Strait of Hormuz.
