Global oil prices rebounded sharply on Tuesday, with Brent crude climbing back above $100 per barrel amid uncertainty surrounding claims by Donald Trump about talks with Iran, reports Al Jazeera.
Brent crude rose 2.9 percent to $102.84 per barrel, while West Texas Intermediate (WTI) surged 3.5 percent to $91.20.
The rebound comes a day after Brent plunged more than 10 percent following Trump’s remarks that he had postponed planned strikes on Iran’s power infrastructure for five days after what he described as “very good” discussions with Tehran.
However, Iranian officials rejected the claim, denying that any such talks had taken place and urging resistance instead.
Authorities in Tehran have accused Trump of attempting to influence global oil and financial markets through his statements, adding to volatility in energy prices.
The conflicting narratives have fuelled uncertainty in the market, with investors closely watching developments in US-Iran tensions, a key factor influencing global oil supply and pricing.
