Spain has formally withdrawn its ambassador to Israel, signalling a further cooling of diplomatic relations between the two countries, reports Al Jazeera.
The decision appeared in Spain’s official state gazette published on Wednesday, confirming a move approved by the government a day earlier. Spain’s embassy in Tel Aviv will now operate under a charge d’affaires.
Madrid recalled its ambassador last September after tensions escalated between the two governments. The dispute followed criticism from Israeli FM Saar over a series of measures announced by Spain’s PM Sanchez.
Sanchez introduced measures after condemning the genocide in Gaza.
