Pakistan Defence Minister Khawaja Asif said on Tuesday that after the Islamabad attack, hopes for successful negotiations with Kabul have ended.
Speaking to journalists in Islamabad, Asif said that the militant group Fitna al-Khawarij, also known as the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), is an extension of the Afghan Taliban. Asif said terrorists have brought the war from the borders to Islamabad, adding that the state must now make a decisive choice, Samaa TV reports.
Earlier, in a post on the social media platform X, the minister termed the suicide attack on the Islamabad court as a wake-up call, stressing that the war against terrorism is a struggle for the entire nation.
Asif said the authorities in Kabul have the ability to stop terrorist activities inside Pakistan. Bringing the war to Islamabad, he added, was a clear message from Kabul. He has made it clear that Pakistan possesses full capability to deliver a strong response.
The defence minister said Pakistan is in a state of war and that expecting fruitful talks with Kabul in such circumstances would be futile. He added that the Pakistan Army continues to make daily sacrifices and provides the public with a sense of security.
