US, Israel sowing discord among Muslim countries: Pezeshkian tells Bin Salman

Masoud Pezeshkian, the President of Iran says the United States and the Israeli regime are bent on sowing division among Muslim countries in contrast to Iran’s efforts to promote regional unity.

He made these remarks during a phone call with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman on Tuesday.

"We strongly believe that the United States and the Zionist regime are trying to create rifts among Muslim nations, while Iran is pursuing regional unity and peace," the Iranian president said, as per the statement issued by his office.

The remarks pertain to Washington and Tel Aviv's attempts at preventing regional cooperation on shared interests such as support for Palestinian rights, regional stability, and freedom from foreign intervention.

The phone call came after a 12-day Israeli war of aggression against the Islamic Republic, backed by the US, resulting in the martyrdom of over 600 Iranians, including senior military commanders, nuclear scientists and ordinary citizens.

Pezeshkian said that Tehran would continue to assert its "rightful entitlements" in any diplomatic processes that could concern the matter

The Islamic Republic has consistently stood on its rights to advance its peaceful nuclear energy program and legitimate defense initiatives in indirect talks with the US.

"Iran welcomes any assistance from friendly and brotherly countries down this path," the president noted, welcoming positive contributions to such diplomatic engagements.

For his part, Bin Salman said Saudi Arabia has condemned the Israeli regime's all acts of aggression against Iran "from the very beginning."

The Saudi leader was pointing to Riyadh's official denunciation of the Israeli regime’s unprovoked and unlawful aggression against the Islamic Republic earlier this month.

"We have engaged in extensive diplomatic consultations with various nations to apply pressure on Israel and realize a halt to its attacks," Bin Salman stated.

The crown prince stressed that the region's Muslim countries would not serve as a launch pad for the regime's attacks on Iran, nor would they allow American bases on their soil to be used for any acts of aggression.

"We also understand your reasons for responding to the US's attacks," he remarked, referring to the Islamic Republic's retaliatory military action, targeting an American base in Qatar on Monday, a day after US bombers attacked three Iranian peaceful nuclear sites.
