Norway’s Prime Minister Gahr Store said that the US strikes on nuclear sites in Iran have further complicated the situation in the Middle East and left the UN Security Council effectively paralysed.
“[The attack] is not in line with international law,” he told Norway’s NTB news agency.
“It is regrettable that the work to find a diplomatic solution and a new nuclear agreement with Iran has not progressed.”
He also addressed whether the US attacks could be justified as an act of self-defence, Al Jazeera reported.
“International law provides the right to self-defence, but it is debatable whether this falls into the category of self-defence for the US. The latest attack does not remove the need for a lasting agreement in the long term,” Gahr Store added.
